What To Do In The Event Of Being Caught In A Criminal Attack

It is human nature to protect oneself from harm and danger. However, in today’s world where bad guys are lurking around ready to take anyone as a potential victim, it takes more than acknowledging this fact. Maybe it’s true that we cannot just rely on the government to provide us with utmost security, judging by the continuously increasing crime rates. But we can definitely rely on ourselves so that we feel safer, and more secure.

And although knowing a little bit of karate or martial arts may be a plus, it isn’t a 100 percent assurance towards surviving a criminal attack. This leaves us to wonder what it is, that could possibly give us that guarantee. Reality tells us that there is none. But that doesn’t mean that once we are in the face of danger, we cannot outsmart the bad guys. Most especially now that there are TASER guns that you can use as weapons for self-protection. But more than that, what’s important is to know how to act even before an attack, and what to do if, inadvertently, you become a victim.

Danger does exist. If you don’t believe that it does, nor do you acknowledge it, you are not doing anything to ensure your very own safety. You need to stay informed of the danger that surrounds you. Know about the different crimes that are being committed and how prevalent they are in areas where you find yourself. Carry with you a weapon. This doesn’t have to be a gun, as it is extremely dangerous. Instead, have a TASER with you.

A TASER gun is a non-lethal weapon, which sends out electrical shocks to immobilize the would-be assailants. This can shoot up to a distance of 15-feet, that’s why this is a very effective weapon for self-protection.

TASERs are becoming popular and a safety weapon for the general public. Even TASER gun for travelers and its use is accepted in aircrafts, so that they can use them against criminals, most especially terrorists.

Be attuned to your surroundings. It is an obvious fact that if you are not aware of your surroundings, the higher the probability of a potential attack to take place. It’s all about knowing what’s going on around you, and being able to recognize a potentially dangerous situation. The earlier you know about the danger, the earlier you can avoid and escape from it. Danger Prevention Tactics—this is the means to avoid danger so that you don’t find yourself in a situation where you have no choice but to fight.

Bottom-line: Don’t be caught off guard. When you walk alone in the streets, be aware of anyone who’s following you. When you’re going to the ATM, be aware of any suspicious looking person in the area.

Know how to escape. Of course, merely being aware is not an all-means solution for you to save yourself from danger. BUT being aware does allow you to quickly respond to the threats effectively. One strategy is to establish multiple routes—a minimum of two. Most criminals eye their victims who have a routine, and when you least expect it, they’ll come and get you.

For instance, if you’re a nurse, you should know at least 2 routes to get from the hospital to your home. The idea behind this is the ability to devise escape routes out of public places, such as restaurants, and even your own home.

Focus is your key, but do distract the attacker. In the event that you fall prey to a felon, don’t jump right out into physical self-defense. Not even if you have martial arts skills. They key here is to avoid further physical violence, as much as you possibly can. You can do this by diverting the attacker’s attention away from you as a victim. Distract him. Make a joke or talk about yourself. When he gets deeply caught in your story, you can get the chance to escape.

Talk him out of it. If you really can’t distract the criminal, find that determination within you to show him that you won’t let him hurt you. Put him off and let him understand that you won’t let yourself be a victim.

If all else fails, attack and fight back—with a full 100%. When things become worse and you have no other choice but to fight back, it’s time for efficient, effective, and proper physical action. Think of ways on how you can attack the criminal with what you already have. You can use your high heels to scrape his shin and your bag or purse to aim for his head and attack him.

Surviving a life-threatening and dangerous situation is not impossible. It’s just a matter of fighting the smart way, long before a danger takes place. Maybe you don’t have control over things that might happen in the face of an attack, but you DO have control over yourself. Just remember to fight smarter (have a back up TASER!) and only then you can defeat the attacker.
