The Do’s And Don’ts Of Choosing A Tattoo
When choosing a tattoo to adorn their body, many people tend to forget that a tattoo is permanent body art and if they find that they do not like it in the future, it cannot be easily removed. In order to ensure that you will not be experiencing “buyer’s remorse” on the day after you get your tattoo, it is important to keep in mind some do’s and don’ts for choosing tattoo designs.
DON’T choose a tattoo when you are drunk or intoxicated. This is the biggest mistake that many people make when choosing a tattoo. A person will be out with a bunch of their friends at a bar, drinking and dancing the night away when one person in the party will decide that it would be a great idea to prove their toughness (this goes for women as well as men) by everyone going and getting tattooed together. Be the voice of reason and resist the peer pressure if you do not want to wake up in the morning adorned by some strange fairy tattoo that you have no recollection of getting.
DO review different designs to make an informed choice. There are millions of different tattoo designs available from the ordinary to the unique and by reviewing a bunch of different designs in your chosen category, such as butterflies or tribal tattoos, you will be able to better imagine what your perfect tattoo would look like. Many tattoo artists possess the skills needed to modify a design into something that the customer would like so don’t be afraid to ask them if they can make your preferred changes for you.
DO ask tattooed friends and acquaintances for referrals. Your friends, family, and acquaintances that have gotten tattoos from reputable tattoo artists will be able to give you their honest opinion of their experience and will be able to steer you away from tattoo parlors that act unprofessionally or need to improve their cleanliness. Professionalism is very important when choosing a tattoo artist to do your permanent body art.
DON’T allow other people to choose your tattoo for you. A tattoo is a very personal adornment that will probably be on your body for the rest of your life so it is very important that the tattoo design is something that you desire. Many people choose to customize basic tattoo designs to make them even more personal and meaningful for the person that is displaying the tattoo. Allowing others to make this very important decision for you will result in a tattoo that you will not be enthused about and may decide to remove within a few years of obtaining the tattoo.
DON’T be pressured into a tattoo that you do not really want. This pressure can come from numerous sources, such as friends that would like to get matching tattoos, partners that would like you to have their name tattooed on your body, or tattoo artists that are trying to talk you into a specific design. The design of the tattoo that adorns your body is a personal decision and should be something that you are entirely comfortable with before you decide to have the design done in ink.

Good article! Yeah people should never get lame tattoos they will regret. The key is to do thorough research, making sure you really like what the tattoo means for the rest of your life, before deciding to get it done.
